Personal Statement

As a scholar activist, I am driven by a passion for social justice and popular empowerment rooted in a liberatory pedagogy and epistemological orientation that frontally addresses the crisis and contradictions of the African condition and its imperialist undercurrents. With a research focus on comparative political economy, I explore the intersections of power, politics and accumulation as a basis of understanding the African condition within the global political economy. Through my research, I aim to contribute to a more nuanced understanding of the complex challenges of humanity as shaped by global capitalism with particular reference to Africa and people of the global south. I believe in the transformative potential of education and I am committed to accessible education for all. I have a serious concern for the mentoring of students and colleagues. I am committed to rigorous scientific research as a vehicle for radical social transformation. With the trinity of teaching, research and community service rooted in critical thinking and inclusive dialogue I am dedicated to the advancement of humanity in Africa and the world at large.  Positions, Scientific Appointments, and Honours
