Personal Statement
I am a pioneer female Professor of Social Work in the University and a consultant researcher with a passion for promoting human rights of vulnerable groups of people in our society. My work focuses on child justice and corrections social work, social welfare services, school social work, disabilities studies, HIV/AIDS, gender studies including gender-based violence, urbanization and migration. I have contributed immensely to the development of social work education both in the University and Nigeria by designing a log book for students’ fieldwork practicum which was rated high by the 2015 accreditation team, development of curriculum, designing of many social work courses, participating in the standardization and harmonization of curricula for National Diploma (ND)/Higher National Diploma (HND), and Benchmark Minimum Academic Standard (BMAS) for both undergraduate and postgraduate social work programmes. I have an impressive portfolio of 35 empirical developmental and policy-oriented research studies and 70 publications in reputable peer-reviewed national and international journals and books. I have mentored one PhD graduate and 2 others are ongoing, over 40 masters students, over 200 undergraduates and over 250 diploma students.
