- Personal Statement
Professor Franca Attoh bagged her honours degree in Sociology/Anthropology from the University of Nigeria Nsukka. And her Masters degree in Sociology from the University of Lagos. She worked for a decade in the organised private sector as the editor ‘Construction in Nigeria’. She then returned to the University of Lagos for a doctoral programme. She completed and bagged the Doctor of Philosophy in Sociology with specialization in Crime and Delinquency. Professor Franca Attoh has been in the services of the University of Lagos since 2007 when she joined the Department of Sociology as an Assistant Lecturer.
She has 67 publications in both national and international Journals and has co-edited three textbooks in sociology and terrorism. Her research spans the areas of human trafficking, intra African migration and spatial incidences of crime in built and external environments. Prof. Attoh is a laureate of the Ford Foundation and CODESRIA in Dakar Senegal. She is an alumnus of the CODESRIA Gender Institute. She is a distinguished fellow of the Institute of Security Nigeria. She has extensive experience in research and consultancy and has consulted for several organizations including the Early Warning System in ECOWAS, International Organization for Migration (IOM), National Agency for the Prohibition of Human Trafficking and other related matters (NAPTIP), National Identity Management Commission etc.
