Personal Statement
As a Development Geographer, my work centers on the intersection of science, policy, and society, with particular interest in data ecosystems, citizen science, and participatory approaches to urban resilience, environmental sustainability and sustainable development. I am actively engaged in global and regional platforms, serving as the Co-Director, Centre for Housing and Sustainable Development (CHSD), Co-Chair of the CODATA-WDS Task Group on Citizen Science Data for the SDGs and as the West African Coordinator of the Citizen Science Africa Association. These roles have enabled me to advocate for transdisciplinary research, inclusive data governance and promote the role of citizen-generated data in achieving sustainable development goals. With nearly two decades of experience in teaching, research, and consultancy, I have led and participated in several high-impact, participatory and cross-disciplinary research projects. These engagements have reinforced my commitment to building capacity, fostering knowledge co-production, and advancing data-informed policymaking across African urban contexts. Through my academic leadership and research collaborations, I remain dedicated to shaping resilient, inclusive, and sustainable cities through innovation, critical inquiry, and multi-stakeholder partnerships.
